Dreams

I think I know what I want to do when I grow up! How about a little cafe in a small town? Soups (I know that I have to improve on my soups), breads, pies and cookies and very good coffee. White, thick dishes, yellow and blue room and lots and lots of fresh flowers, fresh fruits, and get this, each booth would be named for a favortie author, with little bits about the author on the table (perhaps an english country vase for the Jane Austen table), or a photo of a brownstone in NY for Rex Stout, a bell (or pince-nez) for Dorothy Sayers, Captain Crunch box for Neal Stephanson.....you get the idea. Any ideas for good visual clues? And of course each booth would have some penguin editions of the author ready to hand....with handy copies available for purchase for further reading at home.

Art class

Here are some of my drawings from last night. It's not my best stuff, but it's what I was working on in my last class.
For the first two, I drew pieces of the drawing on separate pieces of paper. I drew each piece without looking at what I had already done. I think it's cool that they still fit together fairly well. In the last drawing, I was working on tone. Sorry that the picture is a little blurry.

Chocolate chips

It's a good thing you guys are coming out, because Markie is getting cuter every day. He's saying little sentances, like "where's mommy?", "What's there?", "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, yummy"( that can go on for awhile), and, of course, singing Blue's Clues songs.
Yay! PRATT!
Miss you all, even the floopy snow.

yay

well, we all need family so we can brag to somebody, right? I just checked my grades and I got 50/50 on my first bacterial physiology test! whoooo! (And I'd like to thank Rosie, and Matt, and my makeup artist, and my producer.....) No really, I'm happy because I was afraid my real classes would suffer due to all the fluff I'm taking. I can't wait untill you guys come for spring break!

Mushing in snow

Don't pronounce the mushing as you would when you think about dogs and Alaska, pronounce it this week as you would pronounce it as if you were thinking of potatoes and oatmeal. Mushing, thats what Ben and Sam spent the afternoon doing yesterday. It was between 30 and 40 degrees after a big snow and a deep freeze. The snow was not packing snow but mushing snow, great for making terrains with waterfalls and lakes. The sound of it was wonderfully slushy and sloppy...kind of Taft and bathtubby...flooop.

How to pray the Rosary

So, the other day I made myself some Rosary beads, because the concept of praying the Rosary as a form of spiritual meditation on the works of Christ has always fascinated me. Here's how to pray the Rosary:

1. Make the sign of the cross and then say the Apostle's Creed

2. Say the Our Father

3. Say 3 Hail Marys (for the increase of Faith, for the increase of Hope, for the increase of Love)
  • Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
4. Say the Glory Be To The Father
  • Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
5. Announce the First Mystery then say the Our Father

6. Say ten Hail Marys while meditating on the Mystery

7. Say the Glory Be To The Father

8. Announce the Second Mystery; then say Our Father. Repeat steps 6 & 7 and continue with the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Mysteries in the same manner.

9. At the end of each decade, say the prayer of The Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima
  • Oh Lord, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who have most need of your mercy.

After the Rosary say:

Pray for us, Oh Holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ
Let us pray: Oh God, whose Only Begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these Mysteries of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, though the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
