Dreams
I think I know what I want to do when I grow up! How about a little cafe in a small town? Soups (I know that I have to improve on my soups), breads, pies and cookies and very good coffee. White, thick dishes, yellow and blue room and lots and lots of fresh flowers, fresh fruits, and get this, each booth would be named for a favortie author, with little bits about the author on the table (perhaps an english country vase for the Jane Austen table), or a photo of a brownstone in NY for Rex Stout, a bell (or pince-nez) for Dorothy Sayers, Captain Crunch box for Neal Stephanson.....you get the idea. Any ideas for good visual clues? And of course each booth would have some penguin editions of the author ready to hand....with handy copies available for purchase for further reading at home.

That is an absolutely amazing idea, mom. You have to do it!
Oooo, fun! You'd definetely have to move closer to Chicago though.
Gwen was just talking anout how she wanted to open a coffee shop with a bunch of second-hand books that people can take home.
Yeah- you stole my coffee shop idea! I thought it should have a study area with leather chairs stuffed with bathroom copies of agatha christie and sherlock holmes, and maybe a frilly tea party floral section with romances and historical fiction etc.....
I have always thought about opening a coffee shop/ deli. or even a full scale restaurant, I just never knew how to decorate it. Well, now we know. -M@
sounds like a place I would come to and never leave! :-) Let me know when it opens! hehe
